Getting around on the Yucatan Peninsula
​
ADO Bus:
Easy, comfortable and affordable way to travel around the whole Yucatan peninsula. From Holbox there are shuttles to the airport by Holbox Adventure that can be organized through me before departure.
​
Private Taxi:
Make sure to have a transfer organized or take the ADO bus when arriving in Cancun airport as the taxis there are pure scams and will overcharge you. Generally, you can calculate about 150 CHF for transfers of 2-3 hours on the peninsula.

Rent a car:
The issue with renting a car is that you cannot bring it to holbox and will have to pay for parking in Chiquila (port town in front of holbox) during your time on the island. It is however generally safe to rent a car and drive. Please reach out to me for more insights regarding driving in Mexico.

I cannot recommend reserving a hotel in the Punta Cocos area as you will have to pay the rather expansive taxi everytime you want to get to the village. If you find a hotel or house online that you like don’t hesitate to contact me to get an honest opinion.
